Parents’ nominee to the Board of Management
The Parent’s Council of Adamstown Community College is seeking a Parent Representative for the Board of Management. The Parent’s Council elects two parents to the Board and in the interests of gender balance, ideally, the Council is looking for a male parent representative. If a male representative is not found, the Council may decide to elect a female representative.
The Board of Management would normally meet 6 times a year, in August, Sept, November and then 3 times between January and the end of May. Please note these meetings are currently taking place virtually. The meetings take place on Wednesdays at 5.45pm approx. and usually last between 1 ½ - 2 hours. There is not a huge time commitment necessary outside of these meetings, however from time to time there may be policies to be reviewed. The term of Board is 3 years, however, if your child leaves Adamstown Community College within those three years, you would have to step down from the Board. Only parents of children currently in the school can represent the Parent’s Council.
The work of the Board of Management is varied including reviewing policies, updates from ETB, updates on staffing issues, enrolments etc. It is very rewarding and gives huge insight into the working of the school.
The Parent’s Council are hoping to elect a candidate before the next Board meeting, which is due to take place on 25th November, please do take the time to consider if you might be able to support your child’s school in this way.
Please contact the secretary of the Parent’s Council – Barbara Sharkey, on email@example.com if you are interested.
